A variation of “Las Meninas,” inspired by Velázquez and painted by Picasso. The original canvas of “Las Meninas” was painted by Velázquez in 1656 during the Siglo de Oro (Golden Age) of Spain. Pablo Picasso painted his version of this famous work in 1957, approximately three centuries later! Picasso’s “Meninas” was apart of a series of works during the “return to order” movement in Europe. This art movement abandoned the avant-garde art styles prior to the First World War and moved towards a more traditional and classical art stye.
